July 26, Saturday: Free guided walk at Chek Jawa Boardwalk

** Update on 15/7/14: We are full! Registration is suspended for the moment until we can get more volunteer guides. Thanks for your understanding. **

If you're visiting our blog because you heard of us and our nature walks at the recent Festival of Biodiversity at Vivocity, we just want to say, "Hello and Welcome to you all"! Glad you made it to the webpage!

We have been doing free nature trips to Chek Jawa Boardwalk for nearly 7 years now. Each month, we bring small groups of visitors out on to introduce them to the plant and animals found in the mangroves and intertidal areas of Chek Jawa. All from the safety and convenience of the boardwalk. There is always plenty to see on these trips, such as wild boars, insects, lots and lots of crabs, spiders, snakes, fishes, perhaps a jellyfish or two in the sea, and not forgetting the birds in the forests and flying high above us. Who says there is no nature in Singapore! Come explore Chek Jawa with the Crabs!

Sign up at the Online Registration Form, and we will confirm your attendance via email in a few days! Our email address is nakedhermitcrabs@gmail.com.

FAQS

Q: Suitable attire?

A: Comfortable outdoor clothes and walking shoes

Q: What should I bring?

A: Drinking water (important), rain gear, hat/baseball cap. Optional: change of attire, camera, binoculars.

Q: Age restriction?

A: None as long as the participants are prepared to walk 2 km, climb a 6-storey high tower, able to tolerate the hot sun or wet weather, and be responsible for their own well-being during the walk.

Q: How do I recognise the guides?

A: We will be the ones doing a roll-call at Chek Jawa Information Kiosk. As long as you make it to Chek Jawa, you will definitely see us.

Q: What if it rains?

A: This is a rain-or-shine event. The Crabs will be there at Chek Jawa regardless of the weather. Usually we are able to resume the walk once the rain stops. Please come prepared with rainwear. You make your own decision whether to come or not in the event of bad weather.
